KATHMANDU: For Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, a conspiracy is being hatched against federalism.
Talking to a delegation of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) at his residence in Lazimat on Sunday morning, Maoist Chairman clarified the indigenous nationalities that some reactionary forces have been attempting to foil the agenda of identity-based federalism.
His remarks came at a time while the issue of single ethnic identity versus multiple ethnic identity based federalism still remains a tough nut to crack for political parties.
Denying the accusation that the UCPN-Maoist has backtracked from its earlier agenda of identity-based federalism, the former prime minister Dahal told NEFIN members to keep on piling pressure for the same.
Although the major political forces seem to have agreed on 11 provinces, NC and UML have rejected the idea of single identity floated by Maoists and seconded by UDMF, citing that it could lead to ethnic tensions.THT ONLINE
