Minister for Information and Communications and Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta has said that the local elections would be conducted by the beginning of 2069 BS.
Gupta said so while speaking at a press meet, organised by his party in Rajbiraj on Saturday.
“Unlike parliamentary election, local elections are not time bound,” Gupta said. “Local elections are not related with the constitution,” he added.
Dismissing the possibility in the change of government at the present context, Gupta said, “Parties are raising the issue of a national consensus government, but they are still undecided on which party should take the leadership.”
On the occasion, Gupta maintained that the constitution against the sentiments of the Madhes and Madhesis was unacceptable to them. “We will burn the constitution if promulgated without ascertaining the rights of Madhes and Madhesis,” Gupta said, adding, “We will protest against such constitution and it will be a decisive one.”
He also stressed on the need for the government to hold effective talks with the armed outfit in Tarai region. “The agreements signed with the groups should be implemented in the coming days,” he said. from ekantipur
