The meeting of the major political forces-UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Madhesi Front held for the first time after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA) has discussed the possibilities of the consensus to end current political impasse of the country on Wednesday.
The parties have agreed to start the discussions on the remaining disputes by keeping the agreement reached before May 27 unchanged, said senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal emerging from the meeting.
The NC called the meeting of major political forces a day after Central Working Committee decided to take initiation to hold discussions with all the political parties in a bid to find consensus among the parties to address the political crisis facing the nation after CA’s demise.
Talking to the reporters after the meeting, chairman of the ruling Maoist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal thanked NC for calling the meeting. “I have been stressing on the need for consensus. There is no alternative to consensus specially to tackle the situation emerged after the CA’s dissolution”, he added.
However, NC vice president Ram Chandra Poudel said they were yet to be clear about how to start the discussions and from which level. nepalnews.com
