Heavyweights to first settle unsettled issues, Sideline polls‚ CA revival

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the four parties – Unified CPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front – has come up with a decision to settle the unsettled issues of the new constitution, sideling the issues of going either for fresh polls or revival of the Constituent Assembly.
In order to bail the country out of the current political deadlock, the top-notch leaders of the four parties held the meeting at the residence of CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal in Dallu today morning.
“We have struck a deal to resolve first the unsettled issues of the new constitution. We will resolve them in two-to-three days,” said UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal after the meeting.
The leaders said they will start holding extensive discussions on the thorny issues of the new constituon, including the state restructuring, right from tomorrow morning.
The four parties’ meeting convened at ICC in New Baneshwor on Wednesday had entrusted the heads of the four major parties to initiate dialogues to iron out the political crisis that has gripped the country without an outlet even three months after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly.
Despite a substantial achievement in the new constitution, the CA had met a debacle owing to the parties’ failure to sort out some prickly constitutional issues including the state restructuring on May 27. THT
