Indian ambassador JAYANT PRASAD calls on UML leaders over statute

KATHMANDU: Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad called on top UML leaders on Saturday morning to inquire about the progress seen in constitution drafting process.

In the meeting held at UML parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar, Ambassador Prasad urged UML leaders to build up consensus at the earliest in order to meet the May 27 deadline.

Only 16 days are left to promulgate a new constitution in Nepal.

Indian ambassador had met NC President Sushil Koirala on Friday and discussed the current political scenario and ongoing efforts of political parties to settle the differences which show that neighboring countries and foreign diplomats are eying the progress in statute drafting closely.
CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Chairman Jhalnath Khalal were also present in the meeting.
India’s ambassador to Nepal, Sri Jayanat Prasad Srivastav remained heavily occupied on Friday, May 11, 2012. After all he is loaded with heavy duties.

With India’s subservient local leaders failing so far to resolve their internal disputes, the Indian representative had to become active, critics have it.

He deserves appreciation.
