There are differences over the name of new ministers KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee of UCPN-Maoist on Tuesday entrusted the top three leaders of the party—Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairman Mohan Baidhya, and Vice Chairman as well as Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai—with the authority to finalise the name of the ministers from the party. The Maoist-led coalition government that was formed yesterday with Dr. Bhattarai as the prime minister and the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic chairman, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, as the deputy prime minister and home minsiter, is yet to get a full shape. Following differences over the names at the meeting this afternoon, the Maoist Standing Committee told the top brass to pick up new ministers to be inducted into the Cabinet. According to Maoist Spokesperson, the Cabinet may be extended by Thursday after finalising the party nominees. ‘PLA regrouping soon’ The meeting held at its central office in Peris Danda in the Capital this afternoon decided to dispatch a team to the Maoist cantonments to carry out the regrouping of People’s Liberation Army combatants for the army integration and rehabilitation in a bid to give an impetus to the peace process. Before that a meeting of the Special Committee for the army integration and rehabiliation of former Maoist combatants will be held tomorrow morning. Investigation into attack on Jamakattel Also, the meeting formed a probe panel to investigate the August 27 attack on Maoist trade union leader and lawmaker Shaligram Jamakattel. The three-man committee, which includes senior leaders Amik Sherchan, Dev Gurung and Dinanath Sharma, will have to submit its report within three days.
