Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Broader Madhesi Front and some fringe parties have rejected the government decision to hold fresh election of the Constituent Assembly on 22 November 2012.
Following the government decision, the leaders of these parties met President Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas to inform him about their position. They also urged the President not to approve the “unconstitutional decision” of the government.
NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the NC would strongly oppose the Maoist-led government’s move. “This is part of a Maoist plan to capture power,” said he.
Likewise, the UML vice chairperson Bidhya Bhandari said her party was no more a part of the Maoist-led government.
Deputy Prime Minister and UML general secretary Ishwor Pokharel had walked out of the cabinet meeting, opposing the PM’s proposal for fresh election. nepalnews.com
