Party has deviated from the key issues:Bhandary

KATHMANDU, OCT 27 – Senior leader of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L), Sharat Singh Bhandari said that he would not split the party. Bhandari said so at a time when the rumours are making the rounds that he would split the party after he was removed from the post of Defence Minister.

“I think that the party has deviated from the key issues. But I would not split the party for it,” said Bhandari, talking to a team of journalists who had gone to his residence in Bhainsepati, Lalitpur for Deusi.

As recommended by his party Bhandari was sacked from the post of Defense Minister by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai after his “secessionist remarks” drew flak from several quarters.

He lamented over the assurance of completion of peace process and constitution if he quits from his post as the stalled peace process is yet to get momentum.

On the occasion, he pronounced the need of initialising the inclusion of Madhesi youths in Nepal Army (NA), a process that began when he was in power.

“The process of including 3,000 youths was commenced as a part to include 10,000 youths in NA. The government should implement this process,” he said.

Bhandari welcomed the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA), signed between Nepal and India during the prime minister’s recent visit to India.

He said that the agreement would open the doors for attracting foreign investment in the country.
