President Dr Ram Baran Yadav held joint consultation with top leaders of the big three parties, UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and UML, and the Madhesi Front at Shital Niwas on the current political scenario of the country Saturday.
During the meeting, President Yadav expressed his concern at the political developments after the signing of the seven-point deal as well as yesterday’s two-point agreement to form the State Restructuring Commission.
“The leaders informed him about the recent political developments and last night’s two-point agreement,” Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, who was present at the meeting on behalf of the Madhesi Front, told media persons.
According to Gachchhadar, the leaders expressed confidence that the recent agreement would be instrumental in expediting the constitution-drafting process.
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC president Sushil Koirala, UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and Gachchhadar went to Shitwal Niwas to meet the President.
The meeting came a day after the parties’ dramatic u-turn, agreeing to form the SRC instead of the expert committee following serious objection from the Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN (Maoist) and Janajati lawm
