KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday has suggested Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai to reinstate the Constituent Assembly for a short period through consensus among the parties to give an outlet to the present constitutional and political crisis.
At the meeting with Prime Minister Bhattarai at his residence in Budhanilkantha today, leader Deuba said that there is no alternative but to revive the CA, adding that it was a mistake on the part of the Prime Minister not to save the CA.
Deuba had put forward three options to the present constitutional crisis – reinstatement of CA, go for polls through consensus, and if these two options did not work, formation of a constitution draft commission and endorsement of the constitution through referendum, said Deuba’s aide Bhanu.
During the visit with Deuba, Prime Minister Bhattarai reiterated that he is ready to sacrifice anything for the consensus and maintained that the dissolution of the CA was the result of the dire circumstances. Bhattarai has urged Deuba to woo Nepali Congress leaders to create environment conducive for the consensus during the meeting.THT ONLINE
