Sea of people attend Sadbhav Sabha in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Thousands of people participated in the Sadbhav Sabha — national goodwill meeting — organised at Durbarmarga of Kathmandu on Wednesday.

A sea of people including commoners, members of business community and celebrities was seen at the country’s heart in the late afternoon, carrying national flags at the function organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) today late afternoon.

The venue was shifted to Durbarmarga after the Janajatis occupied Basantapur to organise a victory meeting in the wake of an agreement between the government and NEFIN to form federal states based on ethnic identity.

The participants were of all age groups and they carried placards reading “Bring constitution on time”, “Ensure right to work”, “Stop strikes and banda”, “Maintain national unity”, “Stop violence and killing”, “Keep intact communal harmony.”

Various singers including Jems Pradhan, Swarup Raj Acharya, Ram Krishna Dhakal, Yogeshwor Amatya sang patriotic songs, while Dhirendra Premarshi recited a ghazal on the occasion.

FNCCI’s Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar addressed the meeting. He said the people are fed up with frequent bandas.THT ONLINE
