SUNSARI, NOV 10 – Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala has said that she is against the leadership of UPCN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the Lumbini Development National Steering Committee.
Speaking to the reporters in Sunsari on Thursday morning, Koirala opined that the committee should be headed by the prime minister.
She claimed that party leader and former Culture Minister Minendra Rijal’s participation in the committee is against the NC norm and added that broader Lumbini Development project should not be politicised.
Dahal had requested UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to lead an international committee for the development of Lumbini in a meeting in the former’s office in New York on Tuesday.
Ban in return, agreed to play a lead role in Nepal’s initiatives to develop Lumbini and accepted the invitation to attend an international meeting in Lumbini early next year.
