KATHMANDU: Supreme Court on Thursday has summoned Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Deputy Prime Minster Krishna Prasad Sitaula, who is also the Minister for Law and Justice, in the court within a week in connection to the contempt case filed against them.
A single bench of Justice Kalyan Shrestha issued the verdict ordering them to present in the court in person within a week today. The bench told them that they cannot send their representatives in such a case.
Advocate Kamal Raj Itani had filed a contempt case against Prime Minister Bhattarai and DPM Sitaula for filing a constitution amendment bill seeking another extension of the Constituent Assembly against the November 25 order.
The apex court in its verdict on November 25 had said failure to promulgate the constitution by May 27 would result in automatic dissolution of the constitution-drafting body and it would go for fresh poll or referendum.
