Two women freed from traffickers’ clutches

KATHMANDU: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Bimal Jung Thapa (50) and Ramchandra Kafle (50), director and manpower agent at International Job Link, from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday for trying to send Nisha Pandey (26) and Shashikala Rai (32) to Oman without labour permit. Thapa hails from Gyaneshowr and Kafle is from Ambung-6, Terhathum.
Hearing on graft case
Kathmandu: The Supreme Court today continued a hearing on the corruption case against former home minister and Nepali Congress leader Khum Bahadur Khadka. Senior advocate Mahadev Yadav and president of the Nepal Bar Association Prem Bahadur Khadka argued that the apex court should uphold a five-year-old verdict of the Special Court that had acquitted Khadka of corruption after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority moved the court seeking jail term for him for amassing property Rs 23.6 million through the abuse of authority in the capacity of a minister after the 1990 movement.

Fire in restaurant

KATHMANDU: A fire broke out at a restaurant at Battisputali in Kathmandu on Sunday. A cooking gas cylinder, a refrigerator, inverters and kitchenware were destroyed in the fire. Police said cause of the blaze is still unknown.
