UML Disciplinary Commission seeks clarification from disgruntled leaders

The Central Disciplinary Commission of the CPN-UML Thursday ordered the party’s disgruntled Janajati and Madhesi leaders including vice chairman Ashok Rai to furnish clarification over their latest activities that “violate the party’s norms”.

The disciplinary body asked a dozen dissident leaders to come up with clarifications within a week as to why they are engaging in activities against the policies and organisational norms of the party. After a meeting held at the party headquarters today, the panel also asked them to stop their activities.

Some Janajati and Madhesi leaders including vice chairman Rai, politburo members Prithvi Subba Gurung and Ram Chandra Jha and central leaders Rajendra Shrestha, Rakam Chemjong, Bijaya Subba and Rizban Ansari have been openly criticising the party’s leadership for its stance against identity-based federalism.

The disgruntled leaders have boycotted a series of meetings of the party since the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly on May 27 and are allegedly mulling over the formation of a separate party. nepalnews.com
