Leaders of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) have requested the UCPN (Maoist) to review the agreement on 11-state proposal. The leaders also warned to quit government and opt for proposal if the request was not heeded.
The SLMM leaders had bilateral talks with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Maoist Vice Chairman and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar today.
SLMM has been belligerent towards the three major parties as the 11-state proposal divides the Madhes into five different states.
Emerging from the meeting, Chairman of Sadbhawana party Rajendra Mahato said that if the major parties want to work without any consultation with the Madhesi parties, then SLMM would also return the favour.
“We have told that we would not accept the state formation. What is our worth if the three parties do not consult with us?” said Mahato.
According to sources, Maoist Chairman Dahal assured the Madhesi leaders that no concrete decisions would be made without holding consultations with SLMM.
Hence, a meeting of the major parties – Maoist, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML – along with SLMM has convened at Singha Durbar.
