Madheshi leaders ask PM to implement four-point pact

United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), an alliance of five madhesi parties Wednesday asked Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to take initiation to implement the four-point deal reached with UCPN (Maoist) during the prime ministerial election.

Leaders of UDMF, the key coalition partner in Maoist-led government, met with PM Bhattarai and sought his attention towards implementation of the deal. The madhesi leaders are also learnt to have expressed dissatisfaction over Maoist party’s reluctance to implement the agreement.
In response the PM had reiterated his commitment to implement the deal as soon as possible.

In the agreement, the UDMF and the Maoist party had agreed to withdraw cases filed against those allegedly involved in crime during various political movements, provide special relief to the victims of those movements, and recruit madhesi youths in Nepal Army among other.
