BIRATNAGAR, MAY 01 – Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that he will not resign from his post.
Talking briefly to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport on Tuesday, he said that it is meaningless to spread rumors of his resignation at a time when all are serious on taking the peace and constitution writing to logical conclusion.
He added that the UCPN (Maoist) will lead the national consensus government and clarified that the party will decide who will be the prime minister of that government.
The prime minister further said that this government will take the peace process to a logical end and promulgate the new constitution.
He said the new constitution will be promulgated on the basis of consensus among all political parties and not on majority basis, adding that the disputed issues seen in the constitution writing are being resolved.
Responding a query, PM Bhattarai claimed that the said no-confidence motion against him was only a rumor.
He condemned the incident of bomb explosion that took place in Janakpur on Monday and said that the government will declare the deceased as martyrs and will provide rightful compensation to the victim’s families.
PM said that the Janakpur incident was a criminal incident and suspected that these types of incidents might occur until May 27, the deadline for the promulgation of the new constitution.
He added that he has directed bodies concerned to beef up security in view of the possibility of such incidents. RSS & ekantipur
