KATHMANDU, May 9: Police on Wednesday said the criminal gang involved in the murder of media entrepreneur Jamim Shah were behind the killing of Faizal Ahmed, a Muslim leader shot dead in broad daylight in the capital last year .



Organizing a press conference at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) office premises in Kathmandu this afternoon, CIB chief DIG Upendrakant Aryal said this while making public findings of seven months of investigation into the murder case.

Faizal, 42, secretary of Islami Sangh Nepal then, was shot dead by two armed assailants at Ghantaghar, in Kathmandu, in September last year while he was returning to his office after prayer at the nearby Jame Masjid.

During the press meet, police also paraded Dhan Bahadur Thapamagar, a taxi driver, who police claimed was an accomplice in the murder and make public a US-made pistol and six rounds of bullets recovered from the suspect´s rented room in Dhapakhel.

Police said Indian nationals Aditya Pal of Lucknow and Trilok Singh alias Babbu and shooter Fahad Alam of Uttar Pradesh were involved in Faizal´s killing.

Pal had been staying for seven months before Faisal´s murder, informed DIG Arayal, adding that Singh was the mastermind behind the murder of Space Time owner Shah and also co-ordinated the fatal attack on Faizal.republica
