Demand to make Birgunj as the capital city of the Tarai-Madhes Province.
PARSA: An all-party mechanism comprising 11 local political parties have disrupted the movement along the Nepal-India border point in Birgunj of Parsa district from early Saturday morning demanding to make Birgunj as the capital city of the Tarai-Madhes Province.
The Unified CPN-Maoist, the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML including other parties and a team of civil society members have been disrupting the Birgunj Customs Office as well.
Coordinator of the mechanism and Parsa district President of the NC, Surendra Chaudhary, has been leading the demonstrations.
Coordinator Chaudhary said that locals were forced to demonstrate by disrupting the activities along the border point in a bid to exert pressure on the authorities after their demands were not heard.

The banda enforcers also vandalised a vehicle of Narayani Irrigation Office for defying the protest.
The Customs activities have been completely disrupted owing to the protest, said Harihar Paudel, spokesperson of the Birgunj Customs Office.
He said country had to bear the loss of around Rs 100 million in a day if the Customs Office remains closed.
