Banda cripples life,enforcers kick Bangaldeshi minister’s car at GaushalaJournalist manhandled press vehicles vandalized
KATHMANDU, MAY 20 – The general strike called by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) demanding the names and territory of the federal states in the new constitution has crippled the life across the country on Sunday.
The banda enforcers manhandled The Kathmandu Post reporter’s Pranab Kharel and Ankit Adhikari at Sankhamul this morning. Kharal said that enforcers attempted to attack him and also vandalized his motorcycle (Ba 30 Pa 8309). Another reporter Adhikari’s motorcycle (Ba 50 Pa 5389) was vandalized by the enforcers saying that Kantipur did not publish their news and was biased towards the community. Locals said that banda enforcers also torched some 60 copies of Kantipur Daily and TKP in the area.
The Janajati activists obstructed a visiting Bangladeshi minister and kicked his car at Gaushala of Kathmandu while enforcing the general strike on Sunday .
A group of bandh enforcers wearing red and white bandana stopped a couple of cars of the Embassy of Bangladesh, one of which was ferrying the Bangladeshi Law Minister and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal Neem Chandra Bhowmik, to the Tribhuvan International Airport, soon after 10 am.
After a few minutes, they however let the vehicles go.

The Bangladeshi minister was heading to the TIA in order to return home.
Similarly, a vehicle (Ba 9 Cha 5537) belonging to Kantipur Publication was vandalized at Boudha while it was returning after delivering newspapers. Likewise a vehicle (Ba 8 Cha 7877) of Kantipur Television was also vandalised at Baneshwor.
Banda enforcers also torched a motorcycle belonging to a camera person of Himalayan Television at Gwarko this morning. Vehicles, market areas, schools have remained closed due to the strike.
Meanwhile, NEFIN Chairman Raj Kuma Lekhi issued a press statement and urged not to make any obstruction in the movement of vehicles of media, ambulances, red cross, among other emergency services.
