KATHMANDU, June 3: Condemning the murder of Supreme Court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam, all courts across the country have remained closed on Sunday. The apex court on Thursday, the very day when Bam was fatally shot and subsequently died, had decided to halt works at all courts throughout the country to protest the murder.

Although police have impounded the Pulsar bike said to be used by the assailants, they have failed to shed light on the broad daylight murder even after three days of rigorous investigation. The prospect of early breakthrough in tracking down the killers has suffered a setback after it has been revealed that the two-wheeler used by the shooters was reported stolen two months ago.

On the basis of information provided by an eye witness Asta Lama, police had found the red Pulsar bike (Ba 43 Pa 7208) near New Baneshowr.

Justice Bam was shot at  by Pulsar bike-borne two masked assailants while he was heading in his car to his office after visiting Banglamukhi temple.

Bam, the first sitting apex court judge to be killed in that manner, succumbed to his injuries at  Norvic Hospital. His friend Ram Giri and bodyguard Mahesh Giri have been severely injured in the shooting. Both the injured are undergoing treatment at the Thapathali-based hospital. Bam´s driver, however, escaped the incident unscathed. He is now under police detention for questioning.
