UCPN (Maoist), NC fail to agree on names of federal provinces
The meeting of UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress held ahead of major party meeting ended without any conclusion on Friday.
The meeting convened at Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Lazimpat could not form a common position on the name of the federal state.
Emerging from the meeting, NC vice president Ram Chandra Poudel said they had disagreement on the names of the federal states thought there was still change of forging agreement on the number of the state.
The Maoist party is stick to its stance of single-ethnicity based federal names which has been being opposed by Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. The NC and UML have been saying the country should be federated on the basis of multiple identities. nepalnews.com
