Separate unit of Madhesis to be set up in Nepal Army
The UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), have agreed to move ahead by making the alliance further stronger.
The leaders of the Maoist and UDMF have agreed to this effect at a meeting held in the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar on Saturday.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the functioning of the government, progress in ongoing peace and constitution writing and other issues as well.
Minister for Information and Communications and chairperson of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Republican), Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta said agreement was held to implement the four-point deal in letter and spirit.

Gupta said agreement was held to resolve issue of citizenship problems and en bloc entry of the Madhesi youths in the Nepal Army through bill on inclusion. “The discussion has built the environment for trust and peace and constitution writing processes will move ahead,” said general secretary of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic), Jitendra Dev.
Dev said, “We will hold meeting on Sunday too as there are some issues to be discussed.”
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) and Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, and other leaders of Madhes-based parties were present in the meeting.
