Public holiday in valley on Bhoto Jatra
KATHMANDU, JUN 22 – The government on Friday announced a public holiday within the Kathmandu valley on Sunday to mark the occasion of the Machchhindranath Bhota Jatra.
Ministry of Home Affairs Spokesperson Shankar Koirala informed the same on Friday.
The Bhoto (vest) will be displayed at around 5 pm after the arrival of President Ram Baran Yadav as a chief guest as there is no exact auspicious time for displaying the Bhoto of Machchhindranath.
“We worship Machhindranath in the beginning of the Monsoon as he is known as the god of rain and good harvest”, said Chief of Lalitpur Guthi Sansthan, Lekhnath Sapkota.
Officials of Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan city, Ashok Shrestha said that necessary preparations to display the Bhoto have been completed.
