8 Nepali pilgrims killed in Sursand-Sitamadi accident
KATHMANDU, AUG 13 – Eight Nepali pilgrims were killed and 32 others injured in a bus accident at Sursand Thana in Sitamadi district of India on Monday morning. The bus was comming towards Nepal from Babanath Dham of Jharkhand in India.
It has been learnt that the deceased included five men, two women, and one child from Dhanusha district. Twenty-Three passengers among the injured have been undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Sitamadi while the rest are receiving treatment at Mahottari Jaleshwor District Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Arun Yadav, Manoj Rai, Prem Sheela Devi, Biltun Devi, Bsindra Yadav, Dharma Nath Yadav, and Ram Dayal Yadav. The identity of the child has not been known yet.
The incident took place as the bus (Ja 1 Kha 678) fell into a river while reversing at a bridge. The bridge was under construction.
The other passengers were rescued by locals and security personnel. It has been said that around 70 passengers were travelling in the bus.
