Rishi Panchami festival marked in Kathmandu
The Hindu women have thronged the Risheshwor temple in local Teku today to mark the Rishipanchami. The Hindu women have gathered at the temple premises since last evening to worship Rishi.
The Hindu women observe the festival with the belief that they will be sanctified from all ‘unholy’ steps occurred during the menstruation. It is believed that Saptarshi (seven sages)—Kasyap, Atri, Bhardwaj, Vishwamitra, Gautam, Jamadagni and Bashishtha — have been worshiped in Bhadrashukla Panchami since the ancient time.
The Hindu women believe that they will get prosperous life when they visit the temple and worship the Saptarishi on the occasion of Rishipanchami, says cultural expert Dr Vishnu Dahal.
Around 60,000 devotees visited the Risheshwor temple by the afternoon on Friday.
