KATHMANDU: Spokesperson of Unified CPN-Maoist Dina Nath Sharma on Wednesday has said that the statement given by Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai upon his arrival at the airport from Brazil is the bottomline of the party.

“Nobody is unhappy with the prime minister’s statement within the party, adding the news that Chairman Prachanda is unhappy is nothing but rumour,” Sharma said in an interaction organised by Reporters Club in the Capital today.

He held that Prime Minister Bhattarai will step down only when Nepali Congress and CPN-UML agree upon the federalism with ethnic identity and come up with a consensus candidate for the prime minister’s post.

“President cannot sack the prime minster; he can only call for consensus. No Article in the Interim Constitution allows him to do so. We have not expected that he will resort to coup,” he added.

Speaking at the interaction, NC leader Minendra Rijal said political deadlock will not get an outlet until the prime minister steps down, accusing him of dissolving the Constituent Assembly with intent to cling on to power for a long time.

Similarly, Bhim Rawal said that Prime Minister should abdicate from power giving up his arrogance, warning that the people will, otherwise, depose him through streets.
