The Madhesi Front has decided to go with the previous agreement to form the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) to work out the country’s federal model.



A meeting of the constituents of the Front Monday afternoon decided to go for the SRC. A meeting of the three major parties and the Front earlier today ended inconclusively after some of the parties in the Front expressing dissatisfaction at the decision to give up idea to form an expert committee instead of the SRC.

The meeting of the Madhesi parties also concluded that the composition of the SRC should be in accordance with the representation in the Constituent Assembly.

As per the agreement signed the big three parties and the Front Friday midnight, the names for the SRC are to be finalised today.
Leader of MJF-G, Jitendra Dev informed that they agreed on the formation of the commission as proposed in the Interim Constitution. “We can discuss and negotiate on the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the commission,” said the MJF-G leader.

Advocate Surendra Mahato and Dipendra Jha and Professor Krishna Hachhethhu will represent the SLMM in the commission, sources said.

Meanwhile, leader Jitendra Narayan Dev is waiting to be inducted in the commission if the political parties agree to include politician in it.
