Most Wanted Unity Chairman Gurung held from Darjeeling
KATHMANDU, AUG 01 – Police on Tuesday night arrested Chairman of Unity Life International (ULI) Kashi Ram Gurung from the Indian town of Darjeeling. He was on the most wanted list of the police.
Gurung was arrested while he was spotted walking on the street of Darjeeling in West Bengal state.
Four main operators of ULI including chairman Gurung and managing director Bishnu Chhetri were on the run, while police had arrested a few other officials in connection with the scam.
According to Lalitpur Police Chief Rajendraman Shresha, Gurung was brought to Bhadrapur in Jhapa district via the bordering town of Pashupatinagar. He was airlifted to the Capital from Bhadrapur airport. He would be presented before the court as the case against his is pending.
Unity had collected Rs 3.83 billion from the general public through the networking businesses.
The company was offering social security schemes without licence and duped hundreds of thousands of people from across the country and outside through its network marketing business.
