PM Bhattarai voiced his displeasure with President Yadav
KATHMANDU, SEP 17 – Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and President Dr Ram Baran Yadav held discussions on the current political situation at the latter’s office in Sheetal Niwas on Saturday.
The duo discussed the peace and statute-drafting process during an hour-long meeting, sources said.
According to a source close to the prime minister, President Yadav expressed his worry over lack of progress in the constitution drafting process.
In response, the prime minister voiced his displeasure at the non-cooperation by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML and said the parties played the role of opposition even on the issues of peace and constitution.
Saying that the two opposition parties have tried to undermine the initiatives taken up by his party—UCPN (Maoist)—and the government on the peace process, the prime minister said such activities have affected him.
The president is learnt to have advised PM Bhattarai to move forward by taking both the NC and UML into confidence, saying that none of the parties would be opposition in the peace and constitution writing process.
After the meeting, PM Bhattarai told the media that he informed the president about the peace, constitution, good governance and the recently announced relief package.
Likewise, the prime minister informed the president about his upcoming visit to New York to participate in the 76th UN General Assembly.PM Bhattarai is scheduled to leave for New York on September 18.
