Broader Madhesi Front & SLMM object
KATHMANDU: Broader Madhesi Front (BMF) on Tuesday took a strong exception to the decision of the three major parties of federating the country into 11 states.
Issuing a press release today BMF said that today’s decision of dividing country into 11 provinces is against the consensus forged among the parties as well as the agreement reached with the Madhesi people during the Madhes Andolan.
Broader Madhesi Front (BMF) on Tuesday enforced bandh across the Tarai belt in protest of federating the country into 11 states.
BMF has also called for an immediate release of their cadres arrested during the peaceful protest today.
SLMM leader Mahendra Yadav said that they do not agree on the 11-state proposal, which divides the Madhes into five different states. “We would not accept this agreement in any way. The states have not been divided according to identity and capacity,” said Yadav.

Yadav further said that the proposals of 14 states and 10 states recommended by the State Restructuring Committee and State Restructuring Commission, respectably, should be the basis of discussion.
Moreover, SLMM leaders have convened for a meeting to decide on their stance on state restructuring.
